Toronto Region Board of Trade:

Elevate Smart Cities Summit September 24 & 25, 2019 - Toronto, Ontario 

Topic: Date, Privacy and Commercialization 

With large scale projects underway and bold proposals for the future of urban living being debated, Toronto is at the centre of a global conversation about smart cities ecosystems.  From data governance, to public trust, to commercialization of new technologies, it’s clear we need new thinking if we are to make the most of this new opportunity. The goals of the Summit were to showcase smart city projects already taking place and find ways to unlock long term opportunities to achieve commercialization and deployment of smart cities technologies that will enable better socio-economic outcomes.

The Board’s Smart Cities Summit 4.0 was hosted by the Board as part of Elevate Tech Fest. 

The summit was made up of: 250 + attendees, 85+ companies, 11+ industries 

September 25: Private Bus Tour to multiple Smart City locations around Toronto for VIP's 

September 26: Smart Cities Summit at Toronto Region Board of Trade

My contributions to this Summit were focused around:

  • Managing the partnership externally with Elevate Tech Fest including:

    • Developing strategy and gaining internal buy-in to move the new partnership initiative forward ​

    • Negotiating terms of agreement with client (including revenue share for sponsorship and ticket sales), drafting contract and executing final agreement

    • Managing the revenue share of ticket and sponsorship sales including benefits execution, ongoing sales strategy for both sponsorship and ticket sales, post event invoicing

    • Managing the partnership including attending regular partner meetings with Elevate CEO & Co-Founder, business development team, marketing team, and content team as well as attending information sessions with other Elevate partners for pre and post festival initiatives 

    • Being the onsite contact during the Elevate Festival 

    • Working with Elevate team for post event wrap up and recommendations for 2020

  • Managing the partnership externally with Sponsors 

    • Working directly with clients to negotiate benefits and ensure collateral was received on time and displayed appropriately​

    • Attended pitch meetings with the Relationship Managers and potential clients

    • Acted as subject matter expert on the Summit with client questions 

    • Onsite contact and liaison for clients during Elevate Tech Festival to ensure sponsors got the most out of their sponsorship experience from the Smart Cities Summit and overall festival benefits 

    • Hosted clients at events during the Elevate festival including for the Michelle Obama event

  • Managing the partnership externally with relevant Smart City industry leaders and levels of government; 

    • Ensuring appropriate stakeholders were invited to attend or purchase tickets to the summit ​

  • Managing the partnership internally ensuring;

    • All internal departments are connected and collaboration happened where applicable ​

    • Creation and fulfillment of internal sponsorship benefits 

    • Working with internal policy team to facilitate relevant speaking opportunities for sponsors and related topics including introductions, moderator positions and panel participation

    • Managed ticket allocation to partners, new business development initiatives and internal staffing; included reaching out to multiple levels of government to ensure proper representation 

    • Approved sponsorship collateral

    • Facilitated meetings with internal and external stakeholders

Toronto Region Board of Trade:

Transportation Summit November 27, 2019 - Toronto, Ontario 

Topic: Delivering Mega Projects  

Transportation Summit has proven the Board’s ability to convene the most influential people in related industries for a day of candid conversations and cutting edge thought leadership. This 2019 Sold Out Summit brought global, national and regional experts to discuss the opportunities and challenges of delivering mega projects. With a price tag of a billion dollars or more, mega projects are now the norm, with the goal of getting people and goods moving in and throughout the region. The Board’s Transportation Summit provided a forum for business to highlight the role it could play in delivering those projects on time and on budget, incorporating innovative technologies, increasing system integration and maximizing value capture.

The summit was made up of: 300 + attendees, 109+ companies, 14+ industries 

My contributions to this Summit were focused around:

  • Managing the partnership externally with Sponsors 

    • Working directly with clients to negotiate benefits and ensure collateral was received on time and displayed appropriately​

    • Attended pitch meetings with the Relationship Managers and potential clients

    • Acted as subject matter expert on the Summit with client questions 

    • Onsite contact and liaison for clients to ensure sponsors got the most out of their sponsorship experience from the Summit as well to broker introductions 

  • Managing the partnership internally ensuring;

    • All internal departments are connected and collaboration happened where applicable ​

January 15, 2020 : Why the World Needs Nuclear Innovation 

Mike Rencheck, CEO of Bruce Power, as he provided an update on Bruce Power’s life-extension program and shared his outlook on the ability of the nuclear industry to address the world’s pressing energy, environmental and health challenges. Scotiabank was the presenting sponsor. 

January 13, 2020 : A Conversation about Quayside 

Dan Doctoroff, CEO Sidewalk Labs and Stephen Diamond, Chair Waterfront Toronto sat down for their first public event since the realignment of the original proposed Quayside masterplan was announced. We found out how this new partnership will impact the development of Toronto’s waterfront, and the opportunity it brings to the broader region. TD Bank, BLG and Ryerson University were the sponsors of the event.
